For bankruptcy lawyers, court, business booming

If, as is assumed in bankruptcy bar circles, there is a lag time between the onset of an economic downturn and the onslaught of bankruptcy petitions that inevitably follows, that time appears to have passed.

From Worcester and Springfield in the west to Boston and its suburbs in the east, bankruptcy attorneys across the state are reporting that their phones are ringing with calls from anxious clients asking how they can best deal with their debt. Increasingly, the lawyers say, their advice turns to talk of bankruptcy.
